one week!

for a week now (personal record) i am proud to say i have eaten healthy (gasp, sigh, applaud)! i know for everyone else in the world this is not a  big deal, for me however this is a big deal. I ate healthy for one day last week and felt like crap. I had fruit and veggies all day and in healthy amounts and no extra sugar. I had cramps and pain and bloating and gas and (TMI warning) diarrhea. It was awful i haven't felt that bad since my first trimester with Cecelia. Then it hit, the moment everyone making a huge life change needs, the skies parting and opening up and saying "hey there dumbass here's the big fat stick of stuff you need to make the change hitting you on the head." I felt like crap bnecause my body was SO used to junk food that the real food had no room.

At this point i considered and researched cleanses, water, juice, veggie, fruit, no food, etc. Every cleanse. Each one had a reason not to do it (i like to chew food, i dont want hunger cramps, i need energy to get through my work day). They were all legitimate reasons. So i buckled down and figured it out (dont' worry i give all the secrets at the end). i used a little bit of everything i know put it together and figured out how i can make it work for me.

The key for me is a don't care about weight. i have always been bigger than my friends and about a year ago i stopped seeing myself as the "fat girl" of the group. I cam to the realization that if they had a problem wiht my wieght they would have either a.) sat me down and had a scary crying convo or b.) stopped being friends wiht me. Then i got pregnant and i learned what it was like feel like shit. i never will repeat that and it hit, i wont be having any more children until i am more physically capable of handling it. Instead i want to be healthy. If i stay the weight and size i am, so what (a few sizes smaller would be nice, but it's be a perk not a goal). I just want to eat healthy, feel healthy, and have energy!

So many reasons, no more excuses! So i started with my diet and am adding in workouts now that i am a week in (that whole baby step concept)

here's what i do:

  1. i eat breakfast within one hour of waking up.
    • 1/2 a cup of oatmeal with 1/2 a cup of almond milk
    • fruit
    • egg white omlet with a pinch of cheese and salt
  2. i make a smoothie of 1 1/2 cup fruit and 1 cup yogurt
  3. lunch
    • salad (hard boiled egg, spinach, pinch of cheese, light dressing)
    • panini (baked, boiled or grilled chicken, light cheese and dry rub seasoning)
    • soup (recipes coming for low fat, not too many calories and chewable soups! because i have to chew or it doesn't count as food)
  4. snack (energy boost protein filled 100-200 calories)
    • hard boiled egg and 1 serving  cottage cheese
    • slim fast meal shake (200 calories and cappucino falvor, makes me think that i get a coffee pick me up mid afternoon
    • granola bar
    • yogurt cup
    • fruit
  5. dinner
    • pretty much a normal dinner plus at least 1-2 servings of veggies, everything cooked healthy, and proportioned out
  6. snack
    • this is usually a cheat, small candy bar, one cookie, something to keep me going but hit my sweet tooth that doesn't kill my whole day
everyday i find a new recipe! i am pretty proud, its working great. i also found a solution to my water drinking. Problem: i drink the recommended amount of water all at once and then bloat. You are supposed to drink it throughout the day. Thanks to pinterest* i make ice cubes of water and lemon juice (i squeeze it myself) and add it to my water. i drink it slower and it's pretty good. next week i am going to add frozen raspberries to my lemon juice water.

i also drink my coffee! no option there!

My husband is working as a personal trainer since i don't have a gym membership and i have a 6 month old and no daycare (or free time). that plus a few apps on my phone that help me out!

I'm doing great, i think i am looking good, and (after many tums) finally feeling GREAT. It took one uncomfortable week but my body now LOVES fruits and veggies, i don't feel hungry all teh time, water fixes most of my food cravings.

I'm pretty proud, i have my goals set and i am desperate to be healthy!

  1. Love this :) I am trying, too, so we can chit chat about "healthy" recipes / workouts! I just got a new app called sworkit that allows you to put in the amount of time you want to workout and every 30 seconds it gives you a new workout that you can do in your living room! Only down side is you have to look at the phone, which takes up some of the 30 seconds, but it made my workout more interesting!
